Jeff has worked in the outdoor recreation and protected areas management sectors for over two decades.

His experience began in secondary school while working on a summer crew maintaining BC Forest Service recreation sites and provincial parks in the Grand Forks and Christina Lake areas of southern BC. While attending Selkirk College in Castlegar, Jeff gained experience in the commercial recreation industry with summer employment as a fly fishing and interpretive tour guide in Jasper, Alberta.

After earning a technical diploma in Recreation, Fish, and Wildlife from Selkirk College in 1997, Jeff began a 15 year career with BC Parks. He started as a seasonal backcountry Park Ranger, working for 6 seasons  in various park in the Okanagan and Lower Mainland regions. In 2004 Jeff relocated to the Kootenay region where he worked for 3 seasons as a Senior Park Ranger based in Cranbrook, BC. While working summer seasons for BC Parks Jeff pursued a seasonal career in the ski guiding industry  in the winter months, working as a cat skiing, heli skiing, and ski touring guide throughout the mountains of western Canada. He obtained apprentice ski guide certification with the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides in 2004, followed by full ski guide certification in 2008.

In 2007 Jeff moved into a full time position as a BC Parks Area Supervisor where he was responsible for the administration of a number of provincial parks and protected areas throughout the Kootenay region. He continued in this role for 6 years, while still finding time to spend a few weeks each winter ski guiding. In late 2012 Jeff left BC Parks to pursue opportunities in the private sector.

Jeff formed Cordillera Technical Services in 2013 to provide consulting and project management services for outdoor recreation and facility projects. In the winter months Jeff also works as an associate avalanche specialist with Dynamic Avalanche Consulting Ltd, an avalanche risk management consulting firm based in Revelstoke, BC.
